Esan Youth Goes on Tour of Sergius Ogun Constituency Projects in Old Agbazilo
Ugboha 21st January 2021
The planned tour of Hon Sergius Ogun’s Constituency projects in Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency, was carried out yesterday by the leadership of Esan Youths Organization (EYO).
The tour led by the president of EYO commenced at 9am from Ugboha Community through Ewatto, Ewohimi, Ubiaja through to Uromi.
Observations made in course of the tour include the following: in Ama Junction, it was observed that the drainage system was filled up with dirts thus preventing flow of erosion water. In Ewatto, it was observed that though the community borehole is working fine, however water has not been flowing because of lack of diesel to power the generator. The painful story in Ewatto is that there has not been electricity light for the past 5 years. The cause of the blackout is yet to be ascertained by the inspectors.
In Uhomebho Community, it was observed that the community appointed a bolehole operator who charges a token per jerican of water to buy diesel and do other maintenance.
At Ewohimi Water Project site, it was observed that millions of money has been budgeted and work currently ongoing. Ones the work in completed, water will flow in Ewohimi and all the surrounding communities.
The EYO delegation also had a stop over at the Sergius Ogun’s Constituency office in Ubiaja where they inspected the heaps of notebooks set for distribution in all the schools in the Constituency. Previously, it was confirmed that the street lights in Ubiaja are in perfect working condition.
In Uromi, the power station is said to be in dispute situation between stakeholders owing to the materials and equipments used in the work which did not meet specifications.
The delegation could not visit Ilushi, Oria and other communities owing to time factor and the vastness of the Constituency.
Projects inspected includes: School buildings, hospitals, water projects. electrification projects, road projects among others.
The exercise is acclaimed to be successful. Though Hon Sergius Ogun’s is yet to comment on the observations made by members of EYO, the organization is however impressed with his works but however implored him to do more especially in the areas of ensuring the functionality of the projects.
The tour is scheduled to be continued with that of the Senator representing the entire Esanland at the National Assembly and thereafter followed by the LGA chairmen and Councillors.
Findings and photo evidence shall be published in an EYO Compendium for preservation.
